Hi,
In my application DBA is retiring couple of obsolete HOGAN DB. DBA has provided list of PSBs impacted and asked us to take necessary actions. Could you please let me know what all analysis I need to do and what corrective actions are needed?
Thanks for your help! |

Probably they want you to analyse whcih programs might be using these data-base definitions and how much effort you need to put in to get that.
And as you said, they are "obsolete" so you might need to analyse if you any longer need the data in it, and should that be kept or just get-away from them...
Just my .02$... |

If you are sure that the DB is accessed no where thru that PCB.
You can just DUMMY out the DB name in the PCB (A way to avoid program changes if there are many).
OR else you have to clean up each and every program which access the DB with that PCB. |

All relations concerning IMS components (DBD's, PSB's)
can be found by means of the FABNRVRS utility.

Ummm.....you need to identify the PCBs within a specific PSB. Then you need to identify the application programs using these PSBs. Don't forget to "fix" the linkage section and the "entry" statements first in the application programs. If your application program does not "line up" with what is gen'd in the PSB, you will have big problems.
Is the Hogan database being replaced by something else? |
