I have tried Force Completing a job, when no GDG file is sent from a third party team. The job is critical one and started abending repeatedly on the FTP step. The dependent jobs were in late queue waiting for this job to excute.
On Force Completing, the jobs went fine and the GDG file is empty. Later I got the file from the 3rd team and I demanded it.
What is the best practice in this situation Do Force Complete or Force Cancel What is the difference between them |

The Best to my knowledge::
Force Cancel:: It will not trigger any sucessor.
Force Done or Force Complete: It will trigger sucessors.
As per your senario if your production batch is on hold jus because of this JOB which is waiting for 3rd party (GDG file)...
--FDONE the JOB so that batch can resume... this is imp beacuse you don't want to miss out on SLA's
--Later when you got the file from 3rd party...Rerun the job off-sched.
--THE BEST WAY out: Contact your Service Delivery Manager. |

Hello,
It sounds like a redefinition of the dependencies/successors might be in order. . .
If the file was not needed to continue,why are the jobs waiting on this to ocmplete? |
