Hi all,
I have an issue using Focus.
When i call a COBOL module with older version of FOCUS 7.3.12 i get the expected results.
Results: Report aith all the details like names and numbers.
Focus has upgraded to its new version Focus 7.6.9
When i try the calling the COBOL module using new version of FOCUS the report looks co0mpletely blank with only numbers.
What i conclude with this is there is some problem with the calling procedure with new focus.
Usually with older version it was smething like ABC= XYZ(DATA)
Where ABC is output variable and XYZ is COBOL module called.
Can someone help me out with this. Like how exactly we perform call operation using focus 7.6.9.
It will be great help... thanks in advance. |

Hello,
Suggest you ask the people at Informatoin Builders. They have all of the specifics. |

Hello,
While there have been a few people with some Focus experience (i'm one), no one here is a Focus product support person.
I believe your question will be best served by the product support people - unless someone else has had the exact same situation.
If you are unwilling to deal with the proper people, suggest you put some diagnostic code in a test copy of the cobol program and invoke this with both versions of Focus to isolate what is no longer the same. |

Ok Dick,

Anyways thanks again. |

You're welcome,

The diagnostic code should not have changed the behavior. The disgnostic code was/is to isloate at which point the executions differ.
Even when the difference is identified, i suspect it will still require interaction with Focus support to get a "fix" (possibly this is already known to IBI and opening an issue last week might have saved several days). |

Hi all,
I got the solution for this..
Actually it is not required to change the calling procedure.. it is same for both versions.. we got some setting changed in the library, which made the New focus to come up with the same results as the older one.
This made me to explore and gain some knowledge about focus..
@ nemo: i had already posted a query in IB, but no response. |

yeah.. it works.
Actually older version of focus had some loopholes, which they corrected in their updated version..
Hope we keep finding them to get resolved.. |
