Hi all
these are the questions asked in SCANDENT interview
1. how to u retrieve a CICS screen from endeavor
2. if u retrieve a program do u need to retrieve the copybooks also or they come automatically
3. how do you do testing in endeavor

Hi Prasad,
1) You want to retrieve the CICS screen program or the MAP, as per my knowledge, We can retrieve all the elements if they are in the Endevor. But in my practice i have retrieved the CICS programs only, I never come accross retrieving the MAPs.
2) Copy books won't retrieve automatically, If we need test the programs in any environment we should retrieve the copy books also to that environment (Environment like testing/Production).
3) I am not aware of testing the programs through endevor.

| u can not test in endeavor u can just complile in endeavor n add it to test region. |

Friends,
I am going to join a company where they use Endeavor tool. Currently We use PANAPT. I want to learn Endeavor before i join there. please provide me any user guide/manual link or even i am ready to pay and buy a manual. please advise..

If your organization is licensed to use the product, the material may be downloaded for free from CA support (that may not help if you don't already work for the organization). You might ask your new group to provide the material to study. |

Hi Prasad,
First of all Endevor is just a CM product which you can do as you do in VSS etc but only in Mainframes..
1) You can retrieve a CICS screen from Endevor as you do the same process to retrieve for COBOL program. Endevor doesn't matter whether it CICS or cobol or rexx or sas code. Only the processor group defined to that type matters. Endevor is just a repository which it trace every action and loads in MCF file for future references.
2) If you want to change the copy book also along with the program then you need to retrieve other wise you don't need to retrieve copy books. (most of the site installations will have tree structure to pick copy books from different copy libraries)
3). This is completely a busines requirement and how that business aplication setup in Endevor at your site. normal Endveor should have Test region -> QA -> Production but it's not necessariily only one test region. we can create more than one test environments and make use as Unit test, system test and also Integration test as well , preproduction etc..
So answering to your question, we can do testing in Endevor |
