ADRDSSU is a backup and restore utility. SMF record type 30 has essentially nothing to do with ADRDSSU -- SMF type 30 records are created for batch jobs at different times. SMF will cut type 30 records for a batch job that invokes ADRDSSU, but otherwise I don't know of any connection between the two.
Perhaps you could explain just what you are wanting to know better? |

Thanks Robert, i am using ADRDSSU to take the backup. we know backup information could be written into sysout or flat file. My requirment is to take the report like Backup dump dataset name & the tape used for this dump.i have used REXX to extract this information from joblog. Apart from this is there any other solution to extract these details. |

What exactly is it that you want to know.
The date / time of execution, the output dataset name, the contents of the dump / backup file.
If it is just the dataset name, have you considered using GDG as output. |

Depending on how your site is set up, some of the SMF records will have details about the data sets such as when they are opened, deleted, cataloged, etc. I'm not sure if DF/DSS goes far enough to have SMF records cut -- it starts by scanning the catalog, building the file list, and then reading the data sets to back them up. |

Contact your site support group to find out what data they are capturing in the SMF records. There is a SYS1.PARMLIB member that controls which SMF records (down to the subtype) are recorded -- if they don't record the data you need, you're not going to be able to get the data. Also, they often have consolidated the data already using MXG, MICS, or a similar package so the data retrieval is much easier than reading the raw SMF data. But only your site support group can tell you for sure. |

You can get that from the SMF type 42 records; I'm not sure the type 30 have what you're looking for. |
