The HISTOGRAM statement is well documented in Software AG's manual: Natural Statements, with great exaplanation and pretty good examples.

Histogram is used to access only key value exists in a file . histogarm access directly to inverted list only to check for key value and retruns only one line output for each key value.therefore we can't use histogram for update ,add or store delete a record from a file.histogram has a processing loop.

eg.

histogram file 1 emp-id
write '=' file1.emp-id
end-histogram
