Hi,

Allocation was successful without SPACE. But the information about allocation seems like generated automatically by system.
So I'm confuse that what SPACE uses for since system can allocate automatically.

It is a site specific question. The SMS ACS routimes and DATACLAS constructs are defined by the storage management team at your site.

You will need to talk to them to find out the defaults and values assigned.

However, this is not always the case. I allocate many files that are not controlled by SMS (system libraries, SMP/E zones, and so forth). The SPACE parameter is needed for these files since there will be no generated values.

LOL expat ... if only we could! Storage management is just one of the hats I wear right now -- so I try to keep things going but haven't got much time to improve the environment, as much as I would like to. Between application issues, runaway CICS tasks, keeping the OS up to date, conversions to reduce costs by removing products, and installing new releases of vendor products, I have a hard time keeping my head above water.

Especially if the service might be provided remotely rather than onsite. . .

And possibly only part-time icon_smile.gif
