I have a mainframe job which is scheduled to run in Ca7 on every business day.
Step1 and Step2 should run as usual.
Step3 should verify the results of Step1 and Step2. In case of any problem Step4 should send a notification mail while Step5 should put this job on hold.
Successive steps should not run in case of a problem.
Once the results get verified manually, the operator will release the job.
Note: I don't want to schedule new job(s) for this task.
Please suggest. |

Hi,
Why don't put "other" steps in a separate Job ? If any how you could put job on hold, later how would you remove the hold for further execution ? |

Thanks for prompt reply.
We have around 50 jobs in production which need this modification. Intoduction of 50 new jobs will be a big change.
If we put the jobs on hold then the support team will manually verify the result and then ask operation (Ca7 support) to release the job.
Any suggestions? |

Sorry, but this is nonsense. . . . For 1 job let alone 50 manual verifications and releases a day. . . Someone in management should have already put a stop to it. It wastes time and is quite error prone.
Suggest you work with the scheduling people and implement a proper solution using the scheduling tool you already have in place. |

I do not know about CA/7 but in TWS OPC the approach would be
to split the stream in 3 stages ( forgive the rough terminology )
a CPU stage, a manual/clerical stage( checking activity), again a CPU stage
the cpu stages are the usual stages for jcl
the manual stage is an activity whose completion is set by hand
( usually by some remote office ) after the checking and balances have proven being correct |
