Any other way? MXG does the trick for sure. Is there any other freeware available or will my co have to write the code and develop the entire product?

I'm not aware of any freeware to do this. I would not recommend your company spend the resources to do this, either, since MXG is so reasonably priced. When you consider there's over 100 SMF record types and a lot of them require bit-level manipulation, and summarization of data across time boundaries, and handling never-ending started tasks that spit out SMF records regularly, your company could easily spend 1000 times the cost of MXG replicating what it already does.

Take heed of Roberts advice. MXG is a great product that was specifically built for the breakdown and complex analysis of SMF data for all types of performance, capacity and charge back reports.

As he says, cost vs cost, it would be far more expensive to replicate the product than to buy it.

It deals with some of the more tricky little known things e.g. the type 30 records have end of interval / end of task sub types and using the wrong one can cause your customers a severe shock when they get their resource bill icon_eek.gif I know, I've shocked a few of them in the past
