Hi,
I would like to learn Cobol on my PC. is there any free version that I can install on Windows and documentation for learning Cobol at home. I mean, having the maximum off knowledge of Cobol on Windows before I start working on the mainframe.
Thank you very much.

Hello,

1. Search on "free cobol compilers" in google.
2. Use some simulators such as CArealia, but it's expensive.
3. Try with herculeus.

Hi Anuj,

I believe you might mean CA-Realia. When my group used it, it was a COBOL developer's workbench.

Quote:
CA-Realia II Workbench
Company: Computer Associates
Desc: This is a mainframe-compatible COBOL application development environment on the PC which includes a high-speed 32-bit COBOL compiler, an integrated GUI editor, a CICS development environment and a choice of complete life cycle management tools.
OS: Windows NT/XP/2000/9x

I don't know if CA still markets this or not.

Hi Dick,

Well yes - spell check time for me... icon_redface.gif

I believe it's still in the market. I used it last in 2005 however there are some firms here in india who are using this to train their "new comers" not sure how latest their license is though.
