I get an error IGD17001I DUPLICATE DATA SET NAME ON VOLUME
even when the dataset does not exists
Also the program abends with file status return code 34
What is to be done |

There could be an "uncatald" ds on the volume, that you won"t see unless you enter a VOLSER on the 3.4 select screen. |

If this message is issued by the system, the file exists.
You (or someone) has incorrect jcl that is creating the dataset(s) but not cataloging it/them. It is very likely that this dataset currently exists on multiple volumes.
I suggest you work with the storage management people and make sure all of the "junk" copies of the file(s) are deleted. |

I would suggest these. Increase the space parameter for output dataset and putting some DISPLAY statements in your code and see if it is going in loop.
