Return code of 04 when an empty VSAM file is used

Hi
Could anyone tell me how to get a return code of 04 when an empty VSAM file is used. Just provide some sample code also if possible.

How is the VSAM file going to be processed, via a program or are you talking of a pre program test scenario ?
