None of the prior posts highlighted my favorite difference between DFSORT and SyncSORT.....MAXSORT !
The SyncSORT feature MAXSORT will divide a very large SORT into smaller sorts followed by merge phases until the final result is one output file. The user can control many parameters, such as size of intermediate sorts and number of tape drives to use during merge.
We use this to allow for a common set of JCL to handle various sized input files because it works automatically and can be restarted at any sort/merge breakpoint. |
