| Eh, check you site. I run ICETOOL at my site and it actually runs Syncsort's SYNCTOOL. Just because you are EXEC=ICETOOL doesn't mean it's DFSORT's ICETOOL |

If you're not familiar with DFSORT and DFSORT's ICETOOL, I'd suggest reading through "z/OS DFSORT: Getting Started". It's an excellent tutorial, with lots of examples, that will show you how to use DFSORT, DFSORT's ICETOOL and DFSORT Symbols.

If your site is using DFSORT, then PGM=ICETOOL invokes DFSORT's ICETOOL and you will see ICE messages in TOOLMSG and DFSMSG. If your site is using Syncsort, then PGM=ICETOOL invokes Syncsort's SYNCTOOL (because Syncsort ships ICETOOL as an alias for SYNCTOOL) and you will see SYT messages in TOOLMSG and WER messages in DFSMSG. Keep in mind that the DFSORT documentation applies to DFSORT and DFSORT's ICETOOL, not to other products. There is NO documentation available for Syncsort's SYNCTOOL. |
