Every weekend the spool percentage is being increase to 95%. and we are doing some manual delations. We did some automation to reduce the percentage but the usage is very high. Could anyone please provide Jes2 commands to reduce the spool percentage.

Thanks

Your request is way too generic to get any useful replies...
we know very little about Your environment to make any suggestions..

after al...,
there could be no issues and Your spool space is just inadequate !!

When spool percentage is inadequate the jes messages will not be reflected on the console. The whole console will be freezed. Nothing will be flowing on it. So every ogranization has to reduce the percentage.

Hi,

Sorry I was just giving information why we are doing it. My words means every organization will be doing some automation to reduce the percentage. If it hearted I request for applology.

Our definitions as follows
BUFSIZE=3992,
TGSPACE=(MAX=162880,WARN=80)

We can increase this allocation space but we don't want to do it because even if increase in future the usage will definitely reach above 90%. So we want to automate instead of increasing the allocation.

What I am desperately trying to point out is..
You will have some clerical work to do in order to understand
what to automate.

It is not a problem to stick into jes some automatic commands to purge at certain interval things older than...

but how will You be sure not to purge something that should be kept

play around with SDSF and see what' s in the spool...
there are a few things that only appear ( nobody ever understood why ) only with the ST command..
something like
prefix to disable the prefix,
owner * to see everybody' s spool entries
st

and then pencil and paper to write out all the useless stuff laying around
( sometimes from the last jes cold start )

Might be worth asking your capacity & performance guys to comment on this ............ they should be able to project your growth and allow you to apply any required system / application file increases before they cause problems.

I need to add 5 new spool volume, 3390 mode 27, which has 32760 tracks in total.
Now i´ve tried to understand how to do the math to calculated the increase, but i do not understand it.

In the JES2 reference manual mention a formula to calculate the increase of storage for the TGSPACE on the SPOOLDEF:

((((nnnnnnn + 16287) / 16288) x 16288) / 8) x 4

What value will take nnnnnnn? It is the actual value of my TGspace in use in the $DSPOOLDEF command?

Do not understand this...

That TGSPACE parameter is ten times the default now?
