can anyone please provide with some useful links or some kind of material to learn how SAS works in Mainframes environment.i would be of great of help to me .

There were significant enhancements to SAS going from V8 to 9. Although from a user's view point they may not be significant, from an installation standpoint, they are. Unless you already have SAS V8 installed on your mainframe, I would encourage you to look to the SAS 9 documentation rather than SAS V8.
