Hello,
It is best to delete and reallocate datasets when you want to change the dcb specifications.
It is rare for a mainframe dastaset to have a password. Securing datasets is done via the security software used om the system (RACF, ACF2, or TSS). Permissions are granted to individuals or groups rather than using dataset passwords. If you talk with your security administration people, they can explaikn how to secure your dataset(s). |

DO NOT use password protection, it can cause so many problems like interfering with DFdss or HSM or whatever product you use to perform backups.
Just think, if you screw up your dataset and you have prevented backups being taken, how will you recover it ? |
