Is there any formual which can be used while converting packed decimals into numeric fields.
e.g X 5 P 2
what should be the numeric conversion? |

You didn't 'SAY' what is in your mind properly..... You wanted this to be done using JCL or some CA product (since its posted in CA forum). |

let me clear this in another way..
I have amount field amt 5 p 2
I want to make numeric and i will write it in o/p file as numeric and not as packed decimal.
how can we define numeric equivalents to such packed decimals. |

How will this field be used after it is written?
If it will be used in another mainframe program as input, there is no reason to change the data to some different format.
You might try amt 7 n (or 7 n 2). If the amount is to be printed on a report, you mikght include a MASK.
