What does /* in a Job card mean ? It is not related to Instream data .

It depends on where the '/*' is on the JOB card.....
Care to post the actual statement?

It's before JCLLiB and after JOB level.

"/* " NOTE the blank character
is the standard/default eof indicator for inline data ( optional statement )

the jes2 control statements do not ( repeat DO NOT ) have the blank
