Hi

I have copied around 300 members from an existing PDS to new PDS. Now the copied members Profile has changed from PACK OFF to PACK ON and I need to make it PACK OFF again.

Could anybody please tell me how can I change the PROFILE of all the members of a PDS at one go. I know how to do it for one member but that will take very long time if I do one member by one.

Thanks in advance for assistance.

You will have to copy the wjole PDS using 3.3.

In this screen, there is a PACK option.

Probably as I suggested above - using the 3.3 screen.

The other methods require writing a REXX exec, probably with Edit macro.

abhilashapandey -

If you are talking about ISPF Edit Macros, then this is the link to the fine manual.

Just a query to the existing topic, how does PACK OFF/ON option affects the PDS, and what possible error can occur if this option is not set. In short, significance of this option.

Hello,

PACK ON is intended to save disk space.

Some tools will fail if a "packed" member is encountered.

There is point to be taken into account

under ISPF the profile settings for editing are private to each user,
so it might happen that some members might be saved in PACKED format
because of left over profiles,

everybody must be very careful when saving ....

You can read a short description in the fine manual.
