Hi Friends All,
I want to know how to find out total number of records present in the vsam file(KSDS).We don't have file aid utility.
Is it possible by some other means to find it out?
Thanks
Suresh,

Hi Suresh,
If you copy that VSAM file to a temp file using REPRO command then at the SYSOUT you will get the number of records copied. There are lot other ways to find it out. Other's comments are welcome.

Hello suresh_u,
If you have file-aid in your shop..
go to File-Aid
Option 3.5
And type in your vsam file name and press enter
It will give you the details of your dataset including NUMBER OF PRIME RECORDS.
Hope this helps

Dear Mayuresh/Suresh ,
Suresh don't have file-aid at his shop according to his first post. But LISTCAT will also give the number of records in the VSAM.
Regards,
Sandip. |

Hi Friends,
Can we submit a jcl and find the % of space utilization in VSAM file similar to the FILEAID 3.5 option? Please let me your valuable suggestions.
If this is possible we can find the IMS and DB2 tablespace % of space free. Hence we can know in advance the space needs to be increase or not. |
