Hello,
Why do you think there might be an advantage?
If you describe your goal, we can help you reach it. |

HI,
If i have 50,000 records, which one is better? KSDS or ESDS?
When we opt for ESDS?
Any advantages in using ESDS over KSDS?
like Memory? storage? fast retrevial of record?
i think we use the concept of RBA which is the key for a ESDS.
what's the advantage of using RBA?
can someone help me regarding this? |

Hello,
For us to be able to provide any useful suggestions, you need to provide more information.
As Expat asked, how will you acess the records?
Will this file be used in batch, online, or both?
Will records regularly be added to or deleted from the file?
The more detail you provide, the better answers you will get. |

Go for KSDS (provided you dont have duplicate records). In ESDS you cannot save the space upon record deletion. |

Hello,
I'd recommend you learn about the different types of vsam files before you try to decide which to use. Searching these forums or the web may provide material you of you might purchase a book on vsam. If you are going to use vsam in cobol, this book may help

We are able to offer good suggestions when something does not work or how a particular process might be implememted. We do not have the facility to teach vsam, cics, database, etc. |
