Why would you even think that an unused sysout would cause an abend?

The interviewer told that the job will abend. I want to make sure that. So if anyone aware of this. Please let me know. the results. I havent tried yet because I am in bench, so i dont have a MF id to test that. So could anyone try this and let me know the results.

Thanks in advance,

No way the job would abend, only the SYSOUT will be missing in the spool.

Hello,

Unused/unopened SYSOUT= DD statements will not cause an abend. The worst thing they usually do is cause confusion.

And yes, even of the code does not issue a "display", there may still be one or more SYSOUT= outputs created by the system.

I believe this

was due to misunderstanding each other.
