Hi,
I am facing an issue in opening a vsam file. The problem is there is a VSAM file having some production data and to test version of the same vsam file in two different test areas for testing purpose.
When given a command listc en(/) all just opposite to the test file one I get to see the associated test file two but when given the same command for the test file two I still see the associated file as test file two not one.
so the areas of concern for me are:
1.why is the command not acting vice-verse i.e. while given with file two ideally it should show file one but that's not happening.
2.How to dissociate to associated files like the case mentioned.
Looking forward to a solution ASAP.
Thanks,
Neha |

Provide a LISTCAT of both files, then we can see the problem too. |

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I could see that the I have alternate index created for the file two while alternate index for file one is missing.so is it like I need to create alternate index for file one & modify the path of file two.How do i go about modifying the path file for file two.Is it simple delete of the path file & create it.
Thanks,

To elaborate more on the problem it is like this:-
A VSAM file in one test region is opening but the same VSAM file in other test region is not opening.
TEST region one:-AAAA.TO.VSAM1
TEST region two:-AAAA.TM.VSAM1
so given the file .to. is opening while .TM .is not opening.
Please suggest the probable solution.
Thanks,

How did you associate two vsam files? Moreover your post says, these two vsams are in different regions. |

Hi Murali,
By different regions I mean tesb & tes3 test regions.
By Associating VSAM files I mean LIke I have a production File for which I have two test versions one operating in TES3 other in TESB with diiferent names but pointing to same kind of data.
By this I mean the testing for the production file can be done in two regions independent of each other.
Looking for ward for a reply.
Thanks,

Meaning both has same data.

So total of three vsam (1 prod + 2 tests) independent to each other and in diff regions.

Wondering how? Could it be possible to attach LISTCAT ...... data of both the files. |

Not dependent on each other.
I mean they are independent but in a way linked like if I take the last qualifier of the file & check for the name in tes3 region I get the file name same is the case in tesb i.e. I will get the testb nam eof the file.
let me know if any issues. |

May I suggest that when an AIX or PATH was defined, that the original truenames were perhaps overlooked. |
