Hello,
I have a sequential file on mainframe which is occupying 2GB space. When I FTP'ed (File Transfer) the same to UDB data base, the same data is occupying 250MB. I want to know whether the storage format in mainframe disk and UDB disk is different for this difference?
Please help me out.
Thanks.. |

Hello,
How much "filler" is in the mainframe sequential file?
What kind of verification has been done to ensure all of the data is the same in both places?
What calculation was used to determine the 2gig on the mainframe?
What is the record count, lrecl, and block size for the mainframe file?
Typically 100 bytes of sequential data takes more than 100 bytes of database space. . . or 1000, or 1000000. . . . unless there is wasted/unused space (filler) in the sequential data. |
