Hello,

Batch jobs are a way to run jobs that require no user interaction during the run. Batch jobs usually process many "things" (like a payroll cycle) in one job as opposed to online transaction systems that typically process one "thing" at a time (like changing an employee's address).

We submit batch jobs when they are needed. Most run automatically from some kind of scheduling system (either automated or manual).
