Posn 40 to Posn 51. It should overwrite whatever values are present in that position
b. The Id posn 106 to 111 should be populated with constant '9999'
c. The date in posn 31 to 36 should be populated with constant '032007'

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, if you do not have any manuals for the product that you are expected to use, perhaps it may be a good time to explain the situation to your boss. I know that I would. |

If you are changing data in a file at fixed position for all records unconditionally then you can do using SORT, and why do you want to code in Easytrieve without knowing Easytrieve language ? I assume you know SORT utility |

Hello,
As you proceed, please note that
Quote: |
The Id posn 106 to 111 should be populated with constant '9999' |
needs a bit of help - the positions and the literal are not the same length.
If your site is a licensed user of EasyTrieve, the documentation may be downloded for free from the CA support site. |
