They are two different tools and there is nothing like better one among them.

QMF is cometimes used for generating reports and formating them whereas SPUFI is just a quick and fast way to run some SQL.

QMF has some nice functions that are available using PF keys (see bottom of QMF screen) that are handy.

But QMF comes with its own licensing fee. And as far as I understand, SPUFI is free. So some shops don't keep QMF.

The SPUFI has fewer capability when compared to QMF. In general we can run QMF for Query execution, db2 commands, MF commands as well as Report Query. But in the case of SPUFI, there is no Report query to format the output results. As the User point of view, SPUFI is quite common thing available in every DB2 subsystem. But QMF is optional and it is also depends upon installation of DB2.

these two have use different usage
use SPUFI when want execute the single or more sql queries but dont want formatted output then you go for SPUFI

AND for QMF use when you want the output in fomatted way
of want the modified output,so use qmf when we want execute single query or want formatted query

i use mostly use spufi
but when i use cobol-db2 programme at that time for testing of sql queries i go for QMF by just putting "START QMF" Iin TSO COMMAND LINE

1. More than one query can be execute at a time
2. It consists ";" at the end of query.

SPUFI -

1. Only one query execute at a time.
2. not necessary to end with with ";"

SPUFI too supports multiple queries at a time.
Give delimeter in the settings screen and type more commands separating one another using delimeter.

That is quite interesting Narendra!

I might add a little that QMF does run in batch sometimes.

And the DSNTEP2 that everybody refers to batch SPUFI is not exactly related to SPUFI(it is a different program), although it is used to run SQL in batch.
