How to Prevent to use the ps/pds to any other user

how can prevent the use of specific ps/pds or member to any others when you have shout down your system. or gives any message to person who want to use when he tries to use/open.

I think the only way is thru your RACF/TopSecret security people, but I may be wrong.... icon_smile.gif

Hi Pradeep,


I think you can avoid them by providing Password for PDS or PS while creating it.

Even i think the same, while creating the PDS/PS we can give password. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Set the password ps/pds.

use protect command infront of dataset .

Then it is asked password then give.

it will work.

I had given the protect, which worked fine.

How to unprotect the same now?

i don't want to provid password. i want to give massage to that person who want to access that PS or member that member is under process

Hi all

When i try to use this protect command i get an error telling 'unable to protect dataset' 'i/o error in password data set'

can you please clarify me?
