I have been asked to research debug tool for our shop. We are mostly an LE COBOL shop and do batch and CICS processing. I reviewed IBM debug tool, xpediter, Ca-Intertest,ASG-SmartTest and they appear to all be somewhat equal in functionality. So now I am trying, unsuccessfully to find the answers to some questions that would help us make a decision. Are some easier to use, to install, to maintain than other. Do some require pre-processing while other don't, can you use the same software for batch and CICS or do you need 2 different components of the products.
I looked on the forum but did not find this specific topic. If these questions have been answered can someone direct me to the correct forum.
thank you

Hi B,
I'm no expert on debug tools but being a consultant I've been around some.
Exped seems to be the most popular followed closely by Intert. This is the 1st I've heard of Smartest.
That might give you some insight into what the street thinks. As you say functionality is similar, so reliability and/or cost might be your final arbiter. |
