If we modify a column in a copy book...then in which areas we have to check wether it was running successfully, with out any abends...or errors...
to be clear.......if i have a column with 10 digits for an account no. now it was modified to 12 digits......then how can we modify the samee and where....?
my question is gettting ? |

where are we are using this copybook
then we will check these jobs predessor and successor also |

It seems it is a working storage copybook and you are increasing length of a field.
There might bt two cases, one you are utilizing an existing filler which wouldn't cause a copybook expand and other you are adding extar chars which would increase length of the copybook.
So after making change in copybook you would need to find all the programs impacted, which includes this copybook and you'll need to modify those programs as coorresspond to that perticular field.
Now if that copybook is being used as a File layout description so you also need to update corresponding JCL to accomodate those extra bytes in the LRCEL of the relevent Input/Output file. |
