copying header record to another sequential file...

Hi

Is it possible to copy the first record of one sequential file in to the another sequential file using sort technique with out giving any key to copy ??

You can use this DFSORT job to copy the first record of an input file to an output file:

//S1    EXEC  PGM=ICEMAN
//SYSOUT    DD  SYSOUT=*
//SORTIN DD DSN=...  input file
//SORTOUT DD DSN=...  output file
//SYSIN    DD    *
  OPTION COPY,STOPAFT=1
