Dear All

I learnt that MPP=online, BMP=Online and Batch, DL/I = Pure Batch.

1.Could anybody tell what is the difference and how this difference is achieved by our Programs?.
2.When do we say a program as BMP, MPP or DL/I etc?

Hi Selva,

It's a long story to explain the differences in depth. Please click the link in my signature and do some reading. Once you've got explicit questions you're very wellcome to post them.

Hi Selva,

Just to touch upon,

When you say a program as MPP. then the IMS DBs used in the program must be UP (Started) while accessing.

For DLI, the IMS DBs should be kept down (stopped) while accessing.

But for BMP, there is no restriction. You can keep the DB's either in Stopped state or Started state.
