Hi,

I have an input file having records in the format

F1 : PIC X(4)
F2 : PIC X(1) VALUE ","
F3 : PIC X(10)
F4 : PIC X(1) VALUE ","
F5 : PIC ++++++++++.99
F6 : X(1) VALUE ","

The sample of the record in the input file is

(RD),A0101bbbbbb,bbb+43173.37,
(RD),A0101BBOAE,bb+299740.96,

b represents space in the above input record

The out put of the reocrd should look like

(RD),A0101B,+43173.37, ( The spaces are removed)
(RD),A0101BBOAE,+299740.96,

Is it possible to get this result using DFSORT/ICETOOL? If yes Please let me know how can be done?

I have not posted the topic clearly in my earlier request so raising this again.

I am new member to this team. Kindly let me know if you are not clear on what I am asking.

Thanks

Here's a DFSORT job that will do what you asked for. You'll need z/OS DFSORT V1R5 PTF UK90007 or DFSORT R14 PTF UK90006 (April, 2006) in order to use DFSORT's SQZ function. If you don't have the April, 2006 PTF, ask your System Programmer to install it (it's free). For complete details on all of the new DFSORT and ICETOOL functions available with the April, 2006 PTF, see:

www.ibm.com/servers/storage/support/software/sort/mvs/peug/

Code:

//S1    EXEC  PGM=ICEMAN
//SYSOUT    DD  SYSOUT=*
//SORTIN DD DSN=...  input file
//SORTOUT DD DSN=...  output file
//SYSIN    DD    *
  OPTION COPY
  INREC OVERLAY=(1,30,SQZ=(SHIFT=LEFT))
/*

Hi,

I posted similar problem in COBOL section also.
Dick has replied. It worked fine.

I was not able to use the ICEMAN as my system programmer has not loaded the DFSORT new version.

Thanks a lot for your help

Note that it does not require a "new version" - just a PTF. Hopefully, your System Programmer will install the PTF one of these days.
