Hi,

Can any one tell me why do we specify the level number as 49 only for Varchar DB2 varibles to catch hold the length and content of DB2 VARCHAR field.

Thanks& Regards.

Dear Friend,

It is just an IBM standard to use 49 level for a VARCHAR column in Cobol.

I think, it's because, there is no need to add any other SUB FIELDS to 49 leveled items, in future.
