One of my job got abended due to dataset not created. Since the dataset created late, my job has taken yesterday's dataset and abended. so i have restarted the job after the new dataset created and again it failed due to GDG verification failed in CA-11 step. So again i resubmitted the job instead of restarting and job went fine. Could anyone please tell me what is the difference b/w restart and resubmit and why it failed during restart?
For example your Job holds 5 steps. Once you submitted your job and job abended at 3rd step.
If you dont want to submit your job from the starting step i.e., 1st step and you want to continue job from abended step i.e., 3rd step then you have to RESTART the job from 3rd step otherwise RESUBMIT the job straight away, job will start from 1st step.
In another case if your job abended in 1st step itself then you can RESTART your job from 1st step or RESUBMIT it, both are same.
Thanks for your reply. Actually my job abended at 4th step and i restarted from the 4th step as you mentioned but the job abended due to GDG verification failed, so again i resubmitted from the 4th step and it went fine. So i guess there is something else CA-11 is doing with the datasets.
