What to specify to SORT all the fields in the record

I will use the SORT UTILITY.In the SORT FIELDS what do i need to specify to sort all the fields in the record?

SORT FIELDS=(start position,length of field,type,direction)

If your dataset is RECFM=FB and LRECL=80, then it would be:

SORT FIELDS=(1,80,CH,A)

If you're not familiar with DFSORT and DFSORT's ICETOOL, I'd suggest reading through "z/OS DFSORT: Getting Started". It's an excellent tutorial, with lots of examples, that will show you how to use DFSORT, DFSORT's ICETOOL and DFSORT Symbols.
