What is the diff between PASS and KEEP

Hi All,

1. What is the diff between PASS and KEEP.

2. How many extents are possible for a sequential file?
16.
18
Both
None of the above

3. How many extents are possible for a VSAM file?
121
123
125
None of the above.

1. What is the diff between PASS and KEEP.
Generally disposition PASS is used for temprory File which u want to use in the susequent step but there is no any append or modification for ur temp file.

While KEEP used for temprory File which u want to use in the susequent step and there is some modifiction for that temp file.


2. How many extents are possible for a sequential file?
16.

3. How many extents are possible for a VSAM file?

Is it... I think system is automatically consider KEEP as PASS for temp datasets. Only difference can be made by DELETE.

Delete is performed automatically ...whenever job complete the temp file is automatically deleted..

I didn't mean to say that... I said it doesn't make any difference for TEMP datasets when you code PASS or KEEP.
Its DELETE which can be differentiate with PASS.

Even though you code frequent KEEP on TEMP Dataset, its going to be deleted at the end of the job.

Do you mean to say, TEMP Datasets cant be modified until specified KEEP ???
