The member that you are trying to open , might be opened by some one else before you open that . And there was a session logged out or connection failure when He/She read that member.

mfmouli,
Yes even we tried to figure out whether that dataset is opened by someone or not. But no one did that because that is the personal dataset. And we are facing this issue for the past one month, meaning for past one month we are trying to open the dataset but getting the same error.
does it make sense?pls help me out.

I'm having a similar problem. I list and browse my dataset, but I cannot open/edit a member. It always give me "I/O error reading data". Also, it allows me to add a member and to edit the new member, but the the preexisting members.

How do I fix the problem? I've been trying to clear this error for two weeks.

Thanks in advance for any help available. icon_redface.gif

If you can add new members but not read old members then the DCB info (LRECL,BLKSIZE) was probably altered by some batch job with the PDS as output.

You need to rerun the batch job pointing to the PDS(member) and give the correct LRECL,BLKSIZE. Delete the newest members as they may now be unreadable.
