How is CICS region brought up (STARTed) and brought down

Hi,

I wanted to know about how is CICS region brought up (STARTed) and brought down (SHUT down). Can any one help me with system programmers view of this process.

There are various methods to start and end CICS.

Since CICS is actually a task, we use the MVS system command START to bring up a CICS, and CEMT PERFORM SHUT to bring down.

Bringing the CICS region Up is like we need run a Job to make the Region Up

The Program which do this is DFHSIP.

Like the same bringing the Region down CEMT Perform Shutdown will bring the region down. and make the running job to end.

we can start a CICS region by typin /s <Region Name> in SDSF and shutdown can be done the same way as mentioned above
