Hi all,
I am planning to write a DB2 DBA Certification. Could you please suggest me which is the best DB2 DBA Certification. Which is having more opportunities.
1. DB2 UDB DBA on Mainframe (Z/OS)
2. DB2 UDB DBA on Unix, Linux and Windows
Regards,
Vijay. |

you will be required to appear for DB2V8(700) certification before taking up DBA certification for any specific OS(OS-390/Windows/Unix)...
you can find the details at,
www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/db2/

Hi Gurmeet,
Thanks for your suggestion. I have already done the 700 exam. I am planning to do the DBA. Now in this only I have small dilemma. Unix/Mainframe based DBA. Which will have better future?
Thanks in advance...

Vijay,
I am not very sure of UNIX, as I am working in Mainframes and I can see that there is real dearth of good Mainframe DB2 DBAs.

Hi Vijay
From my observation it appears that there is a lot of demand (or shortage of unix db2dbas in USA) for udb dba than for mainframe db2 dbas. This is current situation in USA. At the same time the demand for mainframe db2 dba is consistent.
For indian market since most of the fortune companies are outsourcing to India I would think that the mainframe db2 dba opportunities could be more.
Thanks
