In RECFM subparameter of DCB parameter the 'A' constant means: the data set contains the ASA print control parameter. It be a print data set. The print data set can write to magnetic diviceses to backup or this data sets can be print later. If you have any question about this , you can send me an mail.

Hi I know the first character contains carriage control for FBA.
Does this mean one cant write in the first byte of the output file/report and leave that empty for FBA?
I had my output report as Fb earlier and written from 1st byte..but now it has been changed to FBA.Should I have to change the program?

Even if I give the RECFM as FB my output file is getting created as FBA thus making the output file 1 byte bigger. Any ways to avoid this ?

What program or utility are you using to output the file?

Hello,

Either change the code that writes the file or after it is created, copy it to the desired attributes.

The file definition within the program code overrides any value you code in the JCL. Is this your problem?

If the file was written using COBOL and the WRITE with ADVANCING verb was used, check the compiler option ADV (see Programming Guide).
