We have a Mainframe Z/OS 1.9 running on our environment. We use Oracle 8 and 9 gateway connects for establishing connectivity to Oracle 8 and 9i databases from our mainframe environment. We have tech refresh database upgrade project underway where all Oracle 9i databases are getting upgraded to Oracle 11gR2. Now using precompile process we discovered that our Oracle 8 or 9 gateway wont be able to connect Oracle 11gR2 database
Our discovery shows that we need to have Oracle 10gR2 gateway at a bare minimum to connect to Oracle 11gR2 database
Look on Oracle website - they have stopped Oracle 10gR2 for download and have Oracle 11gR2 gateway which runs only on Z/Linux machine.
Need some guidance as to how we can connect to Oracle 11gR2 database from Z/OS 1.9 machine ?

I don't know what this has to do with COBOL! Try speaking to Oracle - you are, presumably, paying for support! |

Speaking of support.
On May 11, 2010 IBM posted this regarding z/OS 1.9. It is so far out of service. We are on 1.13 and many people are on 2.1. Your company needs to get up to date.
The IBM® Lifecycle Extension for z/OS® V1.9 (5646-A01) is for z/OS V1.9 (5694-
A01) and is a fee-based offering specifically designed for users who have not
completed their migration from z/OS V1.9 to either z/OS V1.10 or V1.11.
This fee-based offering provides a corrective service for up to 2 years starting with
October 1, 2010, the earliest offering start date, up through September 30, 2012. |
