I made a bookmark of a topic, and when I show that topic it tells me that it is bookmarked, but when I look at my bookmarks from the Home page there are none.
Also, I'm credited with starting 3 topics when it has been just one. |

when/if a moderator does topic cleanup , and deletes a post
the deleted posts in the recycle bin ( visible only to the moderators )
count as started topics. |

Dear Enrico,
I don't understand your reply so let me reiterate.
I have started just one topic (finding duplicates without re-sorting) and made a reply to another topic that I did not start, and none of these have been put into the recycle bin; yet I'm told that I started three topics - there's something wrong here.
Also, you didn't reply to the bookmark issue.
I bookmarked the topic I started (finding duplicates without re-sorting), and when I'm in that forum there's active text at the top and bottom of the page that says "Remove the bookmark for this topic", and this clearly implies that the system thinks there is a bookmark for the topic. However, going to the Home page, there is active text that displays bookmarks, but when I click on this text the resulting reply is that there are no bookmarks set for me: again, there's something wrong here. |

There are two posts from your first reply to cpuhawg, in the Recyle Bin, which means they've been deleted.
The way the "topic counting" works, each individual deleted post counts as a topic started by that user.
That's the way it works at the moment. So, two deleted post, one actual topic started = three topics started.
I've never used the bookmarks, so I don't know how that works.
Actually, I've just looked, and I've got two "bookmarked" topics, but not intentional :-) |

Bookmarks seem to work for me. I set one for your topic, logged out, in, out, shook it all about. Had a look at the index page and was able to "View Bookmarked Topics".
If you detail exactly what you have been trying, Site Admin will have a look, I'm sure. |

Its because two of your posts are in Recycle Bin now (Only Moderators can see) and both are treated as separate topics there.

Thanks for the interest, mcmillan, but your link brought about the usual message: 'You do not have set a bookmark'. However, just like Bill, I've shook it up a bit.
First I tried to bookmark this very topic and it worked. Then I un-bookmarked the other topic and re-bookmarked it - it did not work. So I un-bookmarked it and logged out and in and re-bookmarked the topic - it did not work. It looks like the kind of shaking I can do is not sufficient to sort out this anomaly. Although in this case bookmarking the topic I started doesn't much matter since I can access the topic in other ways,if this anomaly has occurred here then where else might it occur? |

Nope - the topic has developed a resistance to me bookmarking it.
When I logged in and displayed the topic it was implying that it was bookmarked but it wasn't. So I unbookmarked it and rebookmarked it and still it wasn't bookmarked. Then I unbookmarked it, logged off/on, bookmarked it - still it wasn't bookmarked. I've left it unbookmarked. |

I'm not sure but can the "web-browser", at other end, in use be of concern here, McMillan? |

No Anuj, not a browser problem as no client side scripts are involved here. Does bookmarking other topics work for you Jim? |

I said in an earlier reply that I was able to bookmark this topic 'no bookmark' but not the other topic I started.
I went to the recent topics and tried to bookmark one of them but without success; however, this topic was still bookmarked. So I unbookmarked this topic and tried bookmarking another topic - without success. I then logged off/on and tried to bookmark a topic - without success. But could I bookmark this topic again - yes, I could!
Note that when I say bookmarked without success I mean that when displaying the topic it implies it is bookmarked, but when I go to the home page and try to display the bookmarks it tells me there aren't any - except when this topic is bookmarked. |

So far, my bookmarks are behaving as expected.
Is there any chance that bookmarks work different for moderators?
