MOVE INDEX command

Hi,

Can anyone please explain the following command

MOVE INDEX ( VAR A , '*' ) TO VAR B.

where VAR A is Pic x(6) and VAR B is Pic 9(2)

say for example VAR A has data 'G**12@'

then what will be populated to VAR B.
