Hi,
Good Day to all. We are doing some testing on migratiating the ZOS DB2 to mid range AIX UDB. This is typically a cost cutting measure. We were successfull with the testing but the results does not look that good.
We did the testing to select 90k records from mainframe db2 and with remote DRDA connection.
Code: |
Mainframe DB2
-------------
CPU 0MIN 03.98
0.45 MINUTES EXECUTION TIME
DB2 version 9 on ZOS |
Code: |
DRDA Connection and Remote DB2
------------------------------
CPU 0MIN 24.40
7.92 MINUTES EXECUTION TIME
DB2 version 9.7 on AIX |
We havent used any performance measurement tools like STROBE or Omegamon and have tested the case for a batch program.
here the execution time can be justified by the CPU time is a matter of concern as the data is almost the same 90k records.
Is anybody having a clue why this is so or any pointers to any documents will be really helpful.
Thanks,
Syam |

You have given the answer yourself, you should try using performance tools in both zOS & DB2 UDB for AIX and compare the results and find where the differences are, i guess this can be a starter for the whole tuning process.

Hi Sushanth,
Yes, we are gonna configure the performance measurement tools. We will try to EXPLAIN the SQL's also for both the scenario's.
I was looking at some configuration parameters to finetune or someone who is some previous experience on this DRDA Remote DB2 configuration.
Thanks,
