Hi,
I have a COBOL program which is using IDMS database. While running the JCL the program is waiting with the below message.
@26 IDMS DC208002 CV 141 NOT ACTIVE - REPLY RETRY OR CANCEL
Any has any idea about this message? Is it saying that the database is down?
Thanks,
Satya. |

the forum is not a manual reading/reminding service
search the IDMS manuals for the explanation of the message and ask for further help if something is not clear |

If you are not aware of the meaning of CV, you really need to talk to your site support group for clarification of this issue -- as well as spending several days reading IDMS manuals to understand the concepts. |

Hi Satya,
DC208002 says IDMS CV is not available, you should check the start time and end time of the database. You can check if the CV is active or not by going to the SDSF and look at the CV start up job. Make sure that you are running your COBOL program when CV start up job is running. |

DC208002 also say that CV number is not correct. The CV Kode is used to generate the JCL in different regions(Test or Production). Check the SYSCTL file also.
Hope this information helps you. |

Change JCL CLASS it should work fine. Check other jobs for correct CLASS to run IDMS jobs. |

ovreddy, any reason you decided to reply to a topic inactive for two months? And your reply is completely off-topic; job class has nothing to do with an IDMS CV being up or down. The message is quite clear that the IDMS CV was not available and you cannot make it available by changing job class -- only by doing something with the CV! Your site may have a job class set up to run IDMS jobs, but not every site has dedicated job classes to IDMS jobs. |
