Hi All,
i have some hundred obsolete records which i want to delete. Does anyone have a JCL to delete records?
I know we can delete the records using IDDM but i want to do using a JCL which will reduce the time to delete the records.
Thanks for helping me. |

JCL can do one thing: run programs. It cannot add records, delete records, change records. It does nothing but run programs. Which program or utility are you planning on using for this task -- you would certainly get better answers if you tell the details? |

You should have access to the IDMS manuals so what did you find in looking through them? Or, Googling "IDMS utilities" comes back with more than 27,000 hits. It does not seem that you've done much research so far -- so why should we do your job for you and identify the utility? |

Deepak,
How we can identify a record that it's an obselete record? Do we have some indicator or some date logic like before 20090101 all records are obselete. Please give some example to identify the exact problem. |

If your organization is licensed to use the product, you can open an issue with CA Support. . . |

we have a list of records which we found are not used in any dialog and programs. So i can keep them in the input dataset and use a utility and delete them. Problem is that i dont know which utility could be used. |

Hello,
What answer did you get from CA Support?
I suspect you could always write code that would delete the records. . .
I suspect you could unload the data, copy the data bypassing the unwanted entries, and reload the data. |

Hello Deepak,
you may have jcl to add the records in IDD, same JCL you can use for deleting records from the IDD.
For each enviroment they might have given JCLs, check those JCLs, you will find it. |
