Hi Ramesh!
If the datasets were taken as backup, then thru hrecover command we can recall. Just give a try |

Try with options E.H.L....
It'll take you to HSM Recovery, If enabled.
Recover Dataset, If you find it there enlisted.

Priyesh. |

Hi,
I remember Hrecover is used when dataset is migrated and is spanning across volumes we use this command.
Let me Know if it can used for any other purpose still |

Hi Sudheer!
I guess you are talking about hrecall. If any datasets are migrated then we can recall them thru hrecall command. But if any PDS or any file is deleted, sometimes we can regain back thru hrecover command. |

Hi,
When a file is not used for a long time , it is migrated to TAPE from DASD.
Since we can't read any file residing on TAPE , so we call the file from TAPE to DASD by using this command.
Thanks,
Subhi. |

Hi Everyone!
let us not divert the topic to hrecall command.
Ramesh- Are you still there with us. Try to regain the dataset thru hrecover command and let us know the result. |

Hi,
Please correct me if I am wrong
"HRECOVER never use to recover file which is deleted. The file which is deleted can not be recover unless it is backed up in tape."
Thanks & regards

HRECOVER recovers only the migrated dataset. But if you use P;H;F option, one can recover a dataset from backup.
If the ds was deleted before the backup is taken, then we have to check the master catalog.Normally we dont access this catalog.you need to know the Master catalog of your shop.so that u can recover from it. |
