Only with a paid for product - just like fileaid.
Please search the forum for previous posts on this subject |

DITTO can be used. But it's again a 'paid for product' type. |

Hello,
Something fairly simple (and free) would be to copy some number of selected recrods from the vsam file (using your sort product) to a small qsam file, then directly viewing that file of selected records. |

Also, you can use the command "BR" in the DSLIST screen to browse a VSAM file |

Hello,
BR is a site-specific feature - it is not part of standard tso/ispf. |

Hi,
You can use the command also, go to 3.4 option go to the VSAM DATASET DATA component and at the left end of the data set write the command as PRINT ID (/) CHAR which can over write dataset name also
then press enter you can able to see the content of VSAM dataset. |

Has anyone taken the time to step back here and consider the implications when used against a multi million record file ? |

Of course not. . .
Convenience counts - resource usage does not. . . |

Hi,
I was not aware of the above command & used it ... heck it was like as if I 'mundered' some one...the whole screen was filled up with information about VSAM records in red color. Had to hit 'ESC' key to get rid of that. |
